1. Introduction
Welcome to Bible AI ("Company," "we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience while using our Bible reading and AI-assisted study mobile application ("App" or "Service").
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application available on the Apple App Store. Please read this policy carefully. By downloading, installing, or using Bible AI, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use the App.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the App includes:
2.1 Information You Provide
- Optional Email Address: During onboarding, you may choose to provide an email address for Bible AI news and campaigns. The email address is stored in Firebase Firestore together with an anonymous Firebase user identifier. You can skip this step; Bible AI does not provide a user-facing account or password sign-in.
- AI Chat Content: The questions, prompts, and messages you send to the in-app AI Bible assistant, which are processed to generate responses (see Section 8). Please avoid including sensitive personal information in your prompts.
- Local Preferences: Settings such as onboarding progress, selected Bible book and chapter, notification state, and AI data-sharing consent are stored on your device.
- Communications: Information you provide when you contact us for support or feedback.
2.2 Automatically Collected Information
- Device Information: Device type, model, operating system and version, unique device identifiers (such as IDFV), language settings, and mobile network information.
- Advertising Identifier: With your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt, your device's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA). Unity LevelPlay/ironSource and AppsFlyer may use it to measure advertising and attribution performance and provide personalized advertising.
- Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the App, including features accessed, screens viewed, session duration, and buttons tapped.
- Log & Diagnostic Data: IP address, access times, app crashes, and system activity (via Firebase Crashlytics and Analytics).
- Purchase Information: Records of in-app purchases and subscriptions processed through Apple's App Store (Apple handles all payment information directly).
2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do NOT collect precise geolocation data.
- We do NOT access your contacts or calendar.
- We do NOT track you across other apps or websites unless you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, we do not use your IDFA for cross-app tracking (see Section 10).
- We do NOT collect payment card information (all payments are processed by Apple).
- We do NOT sell your personal information to data brokers.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Service Delivery: To provide, operate, and maintain the App and its features, including Bible reading, daily content, text-to-speech, and the AI Bible assistant.
- Personalization: To remember your on-device preferences and tailor the in-app experience.
- Anonymous Service Identity: To create an anonymous Firebase identifier used for app functionality and to associate an optional onboarding email with that installation.
- Transaction Processing: To process your subscriptions and in-app purchases and send related information.
- Communication: To send you technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support messages.
- Analytics: To monitor and analyze usage patterns and trends to improve the App and user experience.
- Safety and Security: To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, and abuse.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes.
4. Legal Basis for Processing (EEA/UK Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom (UK), we process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:
- Contract Performance: Processing necessary to provide you with the App and its services.
- Legitimate Interests: Processing for our legitimate business interests, such as improving our services, provided these interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent: Where you have given explicit consent for specific processing activities, including ATT-based tracking and sending an AI chat message to OpenAI.
- Legal Obligation: Processing necessary to comply with our legal obligations.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected:
- Optional Email & Anonymous Identifier: Retained only as long as needed for the purposes described above or until you request deletion.
- On-device Preferences: Retained on your device until you change them, delete the App, or clear the relevant setting.
- Usage & Analytics Data: Retained for a limited period for analytics purposes, in aggregated or de-identified form where possible.
- Transaction Records: Retained as required to comply with financial and tax regulations.
You may request deletion of personal data we control at any time by contacting us using the email address in Section 15.
6. Data Storage and Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information:
- Data transmissions are encrypted using TLS/SSL (Transport Layer Security).
- Cloud data is stored using reputable providers (Google Firebase / Firestore) with encryption at rest.
- Access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel only.
While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to maintaining appropriate safeguards.
7. Sharing and Disclosure of Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: With trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the App, subject to confidentiality obligations (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics, AI processing, and advertising).
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
- Protection of Rights: To protect and defend our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or others.
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case you will be notified of any changes.
- With Your Consent: In any other circumstances where you have provided explicit consent.
8. Third-Party Services
Our App integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Apple App Store: For app distribution, in-app purchases, and subscription management. Apple's privacy policy applies to payment processing.
- Firebase (Google): For authentication, cloud data storage (Firestore), crash reporting (Crashlytics), analytics, push notifications, and remote configuration.
- Unity LevelPlay / ironSource: For displaying and measuring advertisements. If you grant ATT permission, this service may use your IDFA for personalized advertising and measurement.
- AppsFlyer: For install, session, and advertising attribution measurement. Tracking-related identifiers are used only after the applicable ATT choice.
- Adapty & RevenueCat: For subscription management and related analytics.
- OpenAI: The in-app AI Bible assistant sends a question or prompt to OpenAI's API through a secure proxy to generate a response. Before the first AI chat message is sent, the App names OpenAI, explains this transfer, and asks for your explicit permission. If you decline, the message is not sent. You can withdraw permission at any time from Settings → AI Data Sharing; the App will ask again before a later message. Please avoid including sensitive personal information in prompts. When you request Bible text-to-speech, the selected Scripture text is also processed by OpenAI to produce audio.
These third parties have their own privacy policies governing their collection and use of information. We encourage you to review their policies.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data:
9.1 General Rights (All Users)
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data.
- Opt-out: Opt out of marketing communications at any time.
- Consent Withdrawal: Withdraw OpenAI AI-chat data-sharing permission at any time from Settings → AI Data Sharing.
- Deletion Requests: Bible AI does not provide a user-facing account. You may request deletion of personal data we control by contacting us.
9.2 European Economic Area (EEA) and UK Residents (GDPR)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have additional rights including data portability, restriction of processing, objection to processing based on legitimate interests, withdrawal of consent, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
9.3 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
Under the CCPA and CPRA, California residents have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (note: we do NOT sell your personal information), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at appskiesltd@gmail.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
10. Apple App Tracking Transparency & Advertising
The App displays advertisements through Unity LevelPlay/ironSource and measures attribution with AppsFlyer. In compliance with Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework:
- We request your permission through Apple's ATT prompt before using your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) for tracking.
- If you allow tracking, Unity LevelPlay/ironSource and AppsFlyer may use your IDFA to measure advertising performance and provide more relevant ads across apps and websites owned by other companies.
- If you decline, we do not use your IDFA and do not track you across other companies' apps and websites. You may still see advertisements, but they will be less personalized.
- You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- We do NOT sell your personal information, and we do NOT share your data with data brokers.
11. AI-Generated Content
The AI Bible assistant generates responses using artificial intelligence and is provided for informational and devotional purposes only. AI-generated responses may contain inaccuracies and do not constitute theological, spiritual, professional, legal, or medical advice. Always verify important information against Scripture and trusted sources. The App and its AI features are not a substitute for guidance from a qualified pastor, counselor, or professional.
12. Children's Privacy
Bible AI is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately at appskiesltd@gmail.com. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information.
13. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Where required, we rely on legally recognized transfer mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your data.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the App. Your continued use of the App after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
15. Contact Us
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us:
